It seems I’ve made another possible connection between something in this life and something in the previous one. The thought came to me while viewing a forum post about olfactory triggers.
Before I had memories of my past life, I went with my father as a child to the USS Yorktown in Charleston, SC. I remember even at a young age, the smell of cordite that permeated some of the lower decks of the old aircraft carrier seemed curiously familiar, in a mildly unsettling way.
I hadn’t thought to even consider that until that forum thread came up, but it makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? Cordite was the propellant in the British .303 cartridge at the time, so as a light infantryman I would have been intimately familiar with that smell.
