Surprise! I was right the first time.

My initial impression from John’s time in L’epinette Sector was that we had covered the trenches near the present-day site of a campground; however I had later begun to suspect that we’d been further south, in the redoubt covering the railway line leading into Armentieres.

A post I found on the KSLI Battlefield Tours facebook has actually delivered a surprising confirmation that I was probably right the first time.  They posted a photo showing Google Maps overlaid with a trench map from the 6th div. diaries (the division we relieved). and it showed the lines occupied by our division being roughly parallel with the road that runs by Caping Le Pont Charlet, right where I thought it would be initially.

That’s yet another major confirmation.  I’m yet to find anything to suggest I was wrong about being Pte. John Harris.
